Gina Carano says Ronda Rousey would have broken her arm if tap-out hadn’t come

Gina Carano acknowledged Monday that she would have suffered a broken arm had she not submitted to Ronda Rousey during their comeback fight Saturday night, calling the loss a humbling experience.

The 44-year-old former MMA fighter and actress had not competed since 2009 before facing Rousey on a high-profile Netflix card. The bout ended in 17 seconds when Carano tapped out after Rousey, also returning after nearly a decade away, locked in an armbar.

“I wanted throw, battle, win, but I kicked when I should have moved and was down and done,” Carano wrote in an Instagram post Monday. “If I hadn’t tapped she would’ve broken my arm, as it had begun to crackle. The disappointment of losing like that is very humbling.”

Carano transitioned to acting after her initial fighting career ended in 2009, but was fired from the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian” following a series of controversial social media posts that effectively derailed her mainstream acting career.

Despite the one-sided defeat, Carano hinted in Monday’s post that she might return to fighting again. “Now I feel like this is just the beginning,” she wrote. “I can’t wait to see where I can push my body to go next.”

Rousey has repeatedly stated that Saturday’s fight was the final bout of her career. Carano paid tribute to her opponent in the same post.

“I’m so glad the world got to experience this version of [Rousey] I found a beautiful woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister and legend. I adore you lady,” Carano wrote.
