SpaceX disclosed its financial details for the first time Wednesday as it announced plans for an initial public offering on the U.S. stock market, with a valuation of approximately $1.75 trillion.
Elon Musk’s rocket and satellite company, the world’s leading rocket manufacturer with extensive U.S. government contracts, confidentially filed for its IPO last month. The confidential filing allowed for regulatory review before details became public.
“Our mission is to build the systems and technologies necessary to make life multiplanetary, to understand the true nature of the universe, and to extend the light of consciousness to the stars,” SpaceX declared in its filing.
The IPO is expected to be among the largest in U.S. history, drawing significant investor interest due to SpaceX’s dominance in the space industry and its ambitious plans for Mars colonization.
SpaceX, which has been privately held since its founding in 2002, will list on a major U.S. exchange next month.
