Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger has taken on the role of a lighthouse keeper in Alice Rohrwacher’s upcoming film “Three Incestuous Sisters,” currently shooting on the Italian island of Stromboli.
Italian media reported that Jagger was photographed arriving on the island by helicopter to join the production, which adapts Audrey Niffenegger’s 2005 “visual novel” of the same name.
Rohrwacher, acclaimed for her 2018 Cannes best screenplay winner “Happy as Lazzaro” and 2023’s “La Chimera,” makes her English-language debut with this fairy tale about three sisters who fall in love with a lighthouse keeper’s son.
Jagger joins a cast that includes Dakota Johnson, Jessie Buckley, Saoirse Ronan, and Josh O’Connor, who portrays Jagger’s character’s son. The musician has had sporadic film roles since his 1970 lead performances in “Performance” and “Ned Kelly,” with later appearances in “Freejack,” “Bent,” and “The Man from Elysian Fields.”
Beyond acting, Jagger has been active as a producer, with credits including the World War II codebreaker drama “Enigma,” the all-female comedy remake “The Women,” and the James Brown biopic “Get on Up.”
