Conor McGregor will return to the UFC octagon on July 11 to face Max Holloway in a welterweight bout headlining UFC 329 during International Fight Week in Las Vegas, UFC CEO Dana White announced Saturday.
McGregor (22-6-0) and Holloway (27-9-0), both former champions, will meet in a nontitle welterweight contest. The fight is a rematch of their August 2013 featherweight bout, which McGregor won by unanimous decision despite fighting with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
McGregor, 37, has not competed since July 10, 2021, when he lost to Dustin Poirier by technical knockout after breaking his left leg at the end of the first round. The two fighters had split their previous two meetings.
A previous comeback was derailed when McGregor suffered a toe injury, forcing the cancellation of a planned bout against Michael Chandler in June 2024.
McGregor made history in 2016 as the first UFC fighter to hold championships in two weight divisions simultaneously. He knocked out Jose Aldo to claim the featherweight title in December 2015 and stopped Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight belt in November 2016. He has gone 1-3 in his last four fights.
Holloway, 34, is a former featherweight champion with victories over Justin Gaethje, Jose Aldo (twice), Dustin Poirier and Frankie Edgar. The Hawaii native has compiled a 1-1 record since moving to lightweight in 2025, most recently losing a five-round unanimous decision to Charles Oliveira in March.
